Music festival set to highlight the blues

The 7th annual Barrier Beach Blues and Arts Festival is set to hit Long Beach next weekend. The festival, which kicks off Friday, June 12, will run through Sunday, June 14, and is produced by Artists in Partnership, Inc., a not-for-profit arts organization, and the Long Beach Public Library. A variety of musical acts will perform at Kennedy Plaza and the Long Beach Public Library throughout the weekend. In the event of rain, the outdoor performances scheduled for Saturday afternoon in Kennedy Plaza will take place at the library. All events are free. Seating is limited to 200 in the Library. If you would like to join Artists in Partnership, Inc. you can do so either online at www.aip-arts.org or sign up at the event.

Friday- Long Beach Public Library

7 p.m. — Long Beach High School Student Musicians

8 p.m. — Toby Walker

Saturday afternoon- Kennedy Plaza with “Arts in the Plaza”

Noon — “Musical Instruments from Recycled Objects” art project in the Art Tent.

1 p.m. — Better Late Than Never Band

2 p.m. — Michael Hill’s Blues Mob

3 p.m. — Benoir

Saturday evening- Long Beach Public Library

7:30 p.m. — Hoodoo Honeydrippers

8:30 p.m. — Slam Allen  

Sunday- Long Beach Public Library

1:30 p.m. — Rob Europe

2:15 p.m. — Acoustic Breakaway

3 p.m. — Debbie Davies
