The holiday countdown is rapidly moving along with heart-warming festivities, many which bring us back to the cherished holiday rituals of days gone by. Sample some of the merriment as the spirit of season sparkles throughout the area.

Old Bethpage Village
The holiday season always shines brightly at Old Bethpage Village Restoration, where everyone to step back in time during “Candlelight Evenings,” its annual 19th century holiday celebration. The popular festivities, which are held now through Sunday, are an opportunity to experience the village’s old-fashioned delights before it closes for the winter following the holiday event.
A visit to the historic village, all aglow in a “Hallmark card” setting as flickering candles illuminate the historic homes that are all dressed up for the season, is an annual ritual for many at this time of year. The nighttime experience lends a distinctive dimension to the fascinating Long Island
landmark.
The village shows off its holiday finery, with activities to enchant guests of all ages, in this recreation of mid-19th century festivities. Hear popular 19th century music and enjoy other forms of traditional entertainment, including a brass quartet, fiddlers playing popular seasonal tunes and traditional American dancers, along with performances by local ensembles — all happening throughout the village. Everyone is welcome to join in the reels, quadrilles and contra dances.
Stories of Christmases past and classic children’s holiday tales are retold each night, set against the backdrop of the grandly decorated Christmas tree. Visitors can gather ‘round a rousing bonfire in the village’s crossroads and enjoy hot, mulled cider and other refreshments at the Noon Inn.
There is also an opportunity to do some last-minute gift shopping at the village’s holiday craft show.
