Uniondale high school's show choir wins big at FAME Orlando competition

The renowned Rhythm of the Knight show choir from Uniondale High School has once again captured the spotlight, emerging as the Grand Champions at the prestigious FAME Orlando Show Choir of America event. This dynamic competition, featuring talented musical ensembles from across the nation, took place in the vibrant city of Orlando, Florida, showcasing the best of show choir performances in multiple categories.

Rhythm of the Knight, Uniondale High School’s famous, much coveted, and nationally renowned show choir has once again captured the spotlight, emerging as the Grand Champions at the prestigious FAME Orlando Show Choir of America event. This dynamic competition, featuring talented musical ensembles from across the nation, took place in the vibrant city of Orlando, Florida, showcasing the best of show choir performances in multiple categories.

Under the expert direction of Lynnette Carr-Hicks, Colton Wynter, and Joe Boardman, the choir's remarkable victory against three other competing choirs highlights their continued exceptional talents and unwavering dedication to Uniondale and the show choir’s excellence, which has been recognized nationally.

Reflecting on their triumph, Show Choir Director Mrs. Lynette Carr-Hicks expressed her astonishment and pride in their victory. "I was in shock when they called our names,” she said. “It was unbelievable. I am so proud of all of them. The next stop is nationals!"

But Uniondale’s wins didn't stop at the grand prize — the Rhythm of the Night show choir also secured awards in several categories, including best vocals, best choreography, best set, and best visuals. These accolades underscore their all-around excellence in show choir performance. On top of all of this, Cody Dumpson, a student from Uniondale, was given individual recognition with the "Best Male Stage Presence" award, highlighting his exceptional talent, captivating energy and his significant contribution to the team's success.

“The victory not only celebrates the hard work and passion of the students,” according to the district, but also solidifies the Rhythm of the Knight Show Choir as one of the top-performing arts groups in the entire nation. But as the choir sets its sights on the national level, they face the challenge of fundraising to support their journey and is asking for the community's support, saying the community’s contributions will play a crucial role in enabling these talented scholars to continue showcasing their skills and representing Uniondale High School on a prestigious national stage.
