A driver jumped from his car moments before it erupted in flames on Forest Avenue in Lynbrook on Aug. 30.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., the man was traveling south when he suddenly saw smoke coming from underneath the hood. He quickly exited the vehicle, and members of the Lynbrook Fire Department, under the

command of Chief Michael Anderson, responded.

When firefighters from Hose Company and Vulcan Company arrived on the scene, the car was fully involved in flames. Hose Company stretched a line, and the fire was quickly extinguished — but not before the car was totally destroyed.

Firefighters were at the scene for about 25 minutes. No injuries were reported.
