Easter Message

Faith doused by hope

Posted

How often do we come to God with hope rather than faith? Could we say that this type of hope is actually unbelief? Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. NIV
There is an account in Mark 9 where a father asks Jesus to deliver his son from demons. He explains to Jesus that “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us” Jesus responds with “If I can?” (imagine asking Jesus if He can? If Jesus can’t, then we are without hope) “Everything is possible for him who believes.” Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
When Jesus was crucified, all hope was lost. Darkness covered the land and a sense of defeat was in the air. Satan was rejoicing, Christians were down hearted, and unsure of what was to take place next. Even though Christ had told them He had to die but would live again, they chose to believe that He was dead and so was their faith with Him.
Is it any different today? Do we really believe that Christ is risen?
During this season of celebrating our Risen Savior ask God to reveal Himself to you and increase your level of faith so that you will accomplish everything He has for you. Jesus lives whether or not you believe He does.Your complete belief and trust in Christ will positively affect your Christian walk. If you hope that this beautiful promise is true, pray that God will help your unbelief.

God bless you and your family during this season of the Risen Savior.
