In 2010, Lynbrook resident and world-renowned pianist created the ensemble Trio21, with the purpose of performing and recording the best of traditional repertoire for violin, cello and piano to bring new works to audiences through public concerts and recordings.
Now renowned composer Glen Roven has invited Trio21 to record his musical adaptation of the classic story, “Runaway Bunny” by Margaret Wise Brown.
“We recorded Glen’s music, which musically evokes the characters and emotions in the story, and features Catherine Zeta-Jones in her endearing narration for the recording,” said Biegel. “Trio21 is indeed honored and truly delighted to be part of this recording which will touch the hearts and souls of all ages!” said Biegel.
Along with Biegel, pictured at top left, Trio21 includes violinist Kinga Augustyn and cellist Robert DeMaine. In a short time, they have recorded “Runaway Bunny” and Kenneth Fuchs’ “Falling Trio” — based on Don DeLillo’s novel about 9/11, “Falling man” — to be released in April 2013 on the Naxos label.
The mission of Trio21, their website states, is to establish a reputation as one of the world’s leading interpreters of the standard works for piano trio, with an added focus on works of 20th century and contemporary composers of various genres.
