The holiday season is always a festive time of year at Old Westbury Gardens. This season, as a holiday treat of sorts for visitors, Orchard Hill, the former home of Old Westbury Gardens founder, Peggie Phipps Boegner, has been transformed into a designer showhouse.
This charming 1856 farmhouse is open to the public for only the second time in its history. Each of the historic rooms has been individually decorated by some of the most creative designers in the New York area. Their unique interpretations of the “Home for the Holidays” theme include a Swedish Christmas, Palm Beach Holiday, 8 Starry Nights, The Nutcracker, Hawaiian Holiday, and Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
The design firms include involved include: Agus Interiors, Arden Interior Architecture & Design, Baltimore Design Group, Bradley Stephens, Christopher Maya Inc., Couture Interiors Corp., Danielle Roberts Interiors, diSalvo Interiors, Dyfari Interiors, Elsa R. Soyars Interiors Ltd., Swift-Morris Interiors, Greg Lanza Design, Patrik Lönn Design, Scully and Scully, Lucille Khornak Photography, and Rinfret
Interiors, LLC.
Boegner lived in her beloved home from 1930 through 2006 when she died at age 99. “It’s an old rambling farmhouse that has great charm even when not decorated,” said Old Westbury Gardens spokesman Vince Kish. This is a unique opportunity to see the house.”

Each of Orchard Hill’s 16 rooms has been decorated by a different designer, who offer a unique interpretation of the holiday season. The result is an eclectic take on holiday décor and certainly worth a visit.
