Lynbrook Chamber chooses Business Person of the Year

Kathleen Johannsen, executive director of Atria Tanglewood, is the Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce’s Businessperson of the Year.

With over fifteen years experience in the assisted living industry, Johannsen has served in several capacities throughout that time. She previously worked in the financial services industry.

Johannsen is on the Chamber’s board of directors, and is a member of the Senior Umbrella Network of Nassau, Gerontology Professionals of Long Island, and the Long Island Coalition for the Aging. She is also a member of the Nassau County Emergency Preparedness Committee. Additionally, Johannsen is a mentor for Hofstra University and CW Post University Gerontology students, and has served as a guest lecturer at local schools and conferences.

Johannsen sits on the Fundraising Committee for the Center for Science, Teaching and Learning Capital Building Fund at the Environmental Science Center, and is a member of the St. Thomas Youth Group’s Adult Team and acts as an adult leader for their Summer Youth Theatre Program. A graduate of St. Francis Preparatory School and St. John’s University, Kathleen lives in Cathedral Gardens, Hempstead, with her husband, Bill, and two sons Brendan and Sean.
