Lynbrook couple pays tribute to beloved pets

Bench dedicated at North Shore Animal League

Andrew and Kathleen Canle of Lynbrook dedicated a bench at North Shore Animal League America’s Port Washington adoption headquarters as a tribute to their dogs, Tarzan, Shane, Luke and Bowie — the latter two of which were both adopted from the Animal League.

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 4, Andrew, who owns a Lynbrook-based company, Desirable Temperature Corp, said they were thrilled to be able to make a contribution in this way.

“I know that people will be sitting on this bench, and they won’t know who we are, or probably won’t even read the plaque,” said Kathleen Canle, “but I love the idea that people will be sitting on our bench, talking about saving a life.”

Stone benches, with personalized plaques, are available as part of the Animal League’s Tributes Program. This program provides an opportunity for the public to support homeless animals while at the same time commemorating a beloved pet or loved one, a special occasion, or simply to demonstrate their love of animals. The benches are permanent fixtures throughout our campus landscape, viewed by thousands of people who visit the Animal League each year.  For information about the Tributes program, contact the Planned Giving department at (516) 812.7218 or plannedgiving@animalleague.org,
