Lynbrook Fire Department salutes outgoing chief

Posted

Members of the Lynbrook Fire Department came out in droves on April 22 to honor outgoing Chief Nick Pearsall — from a social distance.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the LFD could not host a traditional ceelbration, but firefighters drove by Pearsall’s home on Hendrickson Avenue, honking their horns and blaring the sirens on their firetrucks as they rode by. They were led by new incoming Chief Michael Brooks, who took office on April 21.

Chiefs and members of neighboring fire departments also took part in the caravan of fire vehicles that drove by his house. Pearsall stood in his driveway with his wife and two children as the participants rode by to thank him for his service. After the fire vehicles passed, other firefighters driving their regular vehicles paraded by, honking their horns. Mayor Alan Beach also took part in the festivities.

Pearsall was elected chief in 2019 after serving as an assistant chief the previous three years.
