Lynbrook/East Rockaway Herald welcomes new reporter

Posted

With my pen as my tool and the Lynbrook/East Rockaway communities as my muse, I hope to paint a truthful and accurate picture of the new world around me.

As the newest reporter for the Lynbrook/East Rockaway Herald since June, I am just getting my feet wet — but I am beyond excited to write for the Herald.

Its funny because you never know where your dreams will take you. It was just last year that I graduated from Syracuse University with big hopes of being a world-renowned writer. And now I am here, ready to take on new challenges and adventures — ready to be a microphone for your voices. So far, it has been a roller-coaster ride through the events and happenings of these communities, and so far its been a pleasure to document all of these events along the way.

For instance, I got to meet a very special mother in East Rockaway who made a powerful choice to keep her baby and continue with her pregnancy despite severe health risks. Her strength was truly inspirational. For another story, I witnessed many Lynbrook residents expressing deep emotions about the problems facing their community at a Town Hall meeting held in Village Hall.

But these are only a few stories that have touched my heart. I anxiously await all the future moments that I can share with your great communities.

I want to know you. It is important to me to create a powerful dialogue with you and record your accomplishment, your tears and your tales because I believe that the people are what makes the Lynbrook and East Rockaway communities so special.

So anytime you want to talk about town issues, concerns, or your visions and dreams for the community, give me a call at (516)569-4000 ext. 246 or e-mail me at chamlin@liherald.com. I cannot wait to hear from you!
