Math is a plus for Lynbrook students

To coincide with the hundredth day of school, third graders in all three elementary schools in the Lynbrook School District celebrated I Love Math Day.

Students rotated from room to room to visit four different math stations that each focused on a different mathematical concept.

At the first station, students practiced graphing skills by taking a poll, and then charting and analyzing the results using bar graphs. At the second station, students used estimating and measurement skills by measuring their height and arm span to determine if the relationship between the two was square or rectangular.

To study geometry, they employed wooden polygons of various shapes and colors to create designs, and then analyzed how the pieces fit together to form different patterns. At the Multiplication Station, students used interactive white boards and other tools to hone their computation skills.
