Carol Burak, longtime Lynbrook resident, will be honored with the Caring for Others Award for 2010 at the Annual Awards Banquet of Family Lodge 467 of the Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society. This award is presented to an individual who assists others in a charitable manner. At Our Lady of Peace, Burak founded the thrift shop, coordinated and edited the parish quarterly magazine, ran the “Meal in a Minute Program” and the “Martha and Mary Ministry.” Outside of her parish, she has been an active member of the Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Friends of the Library, and was a founding member of the Society for the Encouragement of the Arts in Lynbrook. She has also coordinated the New Residents Night for the Village of Lynbrook and has served on the Lynbrook Expo Committee.

The banquet will be held on Oct. 21 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Coral House in Baldwin. Members of the community are invited to honor Burak. Tickets are $35 per person. For more information and to RSVP, call President Peggy Urick at (516) 887-5994 or email her at danyank7@gmail.com.
