Summer maintenance projects at Lynbrook

Posted

The Lynbrook Public Schools Facilities Department has been busy completing a number of renovation and maintenance projects in buildings throughout the district. The most noticeable of these has been the replacement of the exterior curtain wall and windows at South Middle School. A broken drain line in the tennis court has been repaired, and a third sink has been added to the kitchens at both South and North Middle Schools.

Several projects are also underway at the high school building. The stage partition door is being replaced, along with the gymnasium roof and gymnasium air conditioning system. The cabinetry and countertops in the home economics room is being retrofitted, and the rooftop air conditioning unit in room 319 is being replaced. Renovation work at the library is being completed, and three classroom floors are being replaced.

At Marion Street, a set of interior fire doors is being replaced, and the book room is being moved and renovated. The facilities staff also installed two new double ring drywells in the field and piped in the existing catch basin to alleviate flooding on the track.

The gym floor at West School is being sanded, re-lined, and recoated. Brick pointing and brick replacement on a rooftop parapet wall are also underway.

And finally, the main entrance doors at the Administration Building on Atlantic Avenue are being replaced.

“It has always been a top priority in this district to keep our buildings properly maintained, to conserve energy, support optimal learning conditions and to protect the community’s investment in our schools,” said Assistant Superintendent for Business Dr. Melissa Burak.
