Diving for dedication

Swimmers brave the water for cancer research

Posted

Many Lynbrook community members woke up early on Aug. 14 with the roosters to attend a swimming event hosted by Swim Across America, where people were “making waves to fight cancer.” Swimmers donated their time, energy and effort for a life-saving cause.

The organization, Swim Across America, is dedicated to raising money and awareness for cancer research, prevention, and treatment through various swimming events. Since 1987, the organization has grown from a grassroots organization to a movement that hosts dozens of swim events each year all over the country, which the events raise thousands of dollars that are given to local beneficiaries. This year marks the 24th year of the organization with even more individuals treading the waters to find a cure and using their athleticism to fight!
