The Titans of Lynbrook concentrate on development

Lynbrook, East Rockaway soccer players a 'homegrown' team

It’s no surprise that TSA homegrown academy’s development strategy involves developing local girls and boys from Lynbrook East Rockaway age ranging from 8-15.
The Tornados, made up of boys under 15, with a big turn around year, led the division championship with the least goals against and reached the quarter finals of the NY state cup tournament. The Tornadoes have overcome many obstacles since coming out as a travel team five years ago, and they continue to keep together. In the last two years, the team has been playing games with very few players, having up to one or two men short, and has overcome one of the biggest challenges local travel teams face. With TSA trainers experience in developing local soccer players, this season, the Tornadoes outplayed their opponents with an average score of 5 to 1.
When the team was unable to pull players towards their club, the team’s captain Erik Vivar started recruiting within the Lynbrook and East Rockaway villages. Adding to their roster three local players, Sebastian Campos (goalie), Alexander Donlon (striker) and Rene (defender) created a more competitive team.
“Winning is short term, developing is an investment,” said Carlos Perez, TSA’s director of coaching. “We now are seeing some hard work coming into play. Our TSA trainers are well engaged with the team, at practice as well as at the games. We got the players and parents confident in the development process. With this type of service, as we did with the Gators and Lady Gators, we are certain to see some exciting High School soccer games this coming school year.”
The Tornadoes are made up of 11 Lynbrook/East Rockaway residents and three from neighboring towns. They have completed their second division championship with multiple sportsmanship titles in their campaign. In the upcoming fall season, the Tornados will continue to be coached by Jourdan Perez, an original Lynbrook East Rockaway Gator and a Lynbrook High School alumnus.

The Juventus
On the same road in the development process, the Juventus, with boys under 9 years old on the team, started travel in the fall of 2010. Closing with a remarkable spring season, they outplayed teams from top soccer clubs such as Massapequa, and finished their spring season as division champions, appeared at the Long Island Cup finals in the major division.
With 14 Lynbrook/East Rockaway residents and one from a neighboring town, the Juventus have demonstrated what TSA has to offer — a fun competitive environment.
