Our Lady of Peace students honor veterans

For their annual service project, this year the kindergarten and first-graders at Our Lady of Peace School in Lynbrook chose to honor the veterans who were wounded in Irag and Afghanistan.
Each child made a four-season “thank you” poster. As a group, the children donated $250 to purchase a guitar for a wounded vet through the music therapy program provided by the Musicorps organization. Studies show that learning to play a musical instrument assists the soldier to overcome pain, restore self-confidence.
