Two men sought in robbery of Lynbrook McDonald's

Armed robbers hold eight employees hostage, flee with cash

Two men held employees at gunpoint at McDonalds at 121 Merrick Rd. in Lynbrook on Thursday night and proceeded to take money from the store's safe and from the cash registers, police said. The men, who fled in an unknown direction, are still at large.

According to Fifth Squad detectives, two men entered the fast food restaurant at 9:12 p.m. After ordering food from an employee, one of the subjects jumped over the counter, displaying a silver handgun.

The second subject then proceeded around the counter. Both subjects forced the eight employees into the manager’s office while the manager was ordered to open the safe. Money from the safe was removed by the first subject and placed into a knapsack.

Both subjects left the manager’s office and then proceeded to remove additional money from the store’s cash registers. The subjects fled the store through the north side doorway into an unknown direction.

An undetermined amount of cash was taken. None of the eight employees were reported to have been injured.

Police are searching for the two subjects: The first subject is described as a male black, 5’8’to 6’0” tall with a thin build. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing blue jeans and a blue pullover sweatshirt, and was armed with a silver handgun.

The second subject is described as a male black, 5’8” to 6’0” tall, with a thin build. He was wearing blue jeans, a gray hoodie, white sneakers and a dark colored baseball hat during the robbery.
