Overcast An elevated state: Renovations under way at Our Lady of Lourdes Church

To the Rev. Frank Parisi’s knowledge, Malverne’s Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church is one of the only local churches to have received an elevator as part of its renovations campaign.
“We have a population that was no longer able to get into the church because they found it too difficult, so we made that one of our priorities,” Parisi said. “We wanted to make it more accessible.”
The church has already replaced the roof and steps and plans to replace the windows next to make the 84-year-old building, which sees more than 2,500 families, water-tight.
