Cops seek information about Lakeview robbery

Two men posing as utility company employees forced their way into a Lakeview house and robbed three people at gunpoint last week, according to detectives with the Fifth Precinct who are investigating the robbery.

Around 9:55 p.m. on Monday, July 25, the two men, dressed in blue collared shirts, traffic vests, tan work books and black gloves approached the house on Ontario Road, where a 20-year-old woman opened the front door. Displaying handguns, the men forced her back into the living room. Hearing the commotion, a 23-year-old man — an acquaintance of the female victim — came downstairs where the robbers forced him to the ground at gunpoint. The subjects then kicked in the first-floor bedroom door of the landlord/homeowner and began to ransack the room.

The 28-year-old landlord, accompanied by his 28-year-old friend, arrived at the home shortly thereafter and were immediately confronted by the two men as they opened the front door. While the friend was dragged into the home, the landlord was able to flee and call police.

The two subjects fled the home with a large bag of unknown proceeds, as well as the cell phones and wallets of the three victims. The subjects were described as black men between 5-feet-10-inches tall and 6-feet-2-inches tall. One was wearing a dust mask.

No injuries were reported, but detectives are seeking information about the incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous.
