The pedestrian suffered severe head trauma, and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Eid was also transported for evaluation, complaining of neck and back pain.
Eid was arrested and charged with second-degree vehicular assault and a DWAI drugs misdemeanor. He was arraigned on July 28 at First District Court in Hempstead and bail was set at $20,000 bond, $10,000 cash. Eid was due back in court on Aug. 6.

Grand Larceny
A West Hempstead man told police that several items were stolen from his shed on July 27 at 12:30 a.m. According to police, the victim awoke in his Maple Street home to noises outside and noticed that the motion light was going off. From his window the man said he observed two white men wheeling away the snow-blower that had been in his garage. The victim alleged that at the time of the theft, he saw two black men walking toward a white van that was parked across the street from his house. The men made a U-turn on Maple Street and may have picked up the two white men who were leaving the scene with the stolen property. The victim discovered that a pressure washer, framing gun and air compressor, along with three bicycles, were also missing.
