Darcy talks energy efficiency in Malverne

Town of Hempstead Councilman James Darcy participated in the 2010 Solar Seminar held at Malverne Village Hall on Sept. 15.

The seminar was part of a six-part series of “How To” seminars hosted by the Town of Hempstead to equip town residents with tools to lower energy costs and reduce carbon footprints.

The seminars, held throughout the township, highlight measures homeowners can undertake to make houses more energy efficient, as well as detail methods of incorporating solar power into the energy plan for homes and businesses.

At each seminar, the town also runs a light-bulb exchange program, trading energy-efficient bulbs for old, incandescent ones.

The next program will be held at Hempstead Town Hall on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.

“I encourage neighbors to participate in these seminars,” Darcy said. “Helping to keep our planet ‘clean and green’ is getting easier all the time because of programs like this.”
