Dental society, NAACP honor Maurice Downing students

Students from the Maurice W. Downing Elementary School in Malverne recently participated in the National Children’s Dental Health Contest.
The children, whose participation was sponsored by the Nassau County Dental Society, received certificates for an honorable mention during a May 10 ceremony at the Town of Hempstead Bennett Pavilion.
To participate in the contest, students were asked to create a drawing pertaining to dental health.
Meanwhile, other Downing students were honored for achieving perfect attendance during the 2009-2010 school year.
The Lakeview Branch of the NAACP visited Downing to present each of the 28 children with a special certificate.
