As part of Superintendent’s Conference Day in the Malverne school district, each year teachers and staff members are honored for their service to the district. Additionally, two individuals are selected to receive the Outstanding Support Staff Member Award and the Outstanding Teacher Award. Based upon nomination letters written by their principals, the respective honorees are recognized at Superintendent’s Conference Day with a special plaque.

This year, Jo-An Renzullo was selected to receive the Outstanding Support Staff Member Award for 2010-11. Renzullo has been with the district for 15 years and is administrative assistant to the director of special education. Charles Vessalico, science teacher at Malverne High School, was this year’s recipient of the Outstanding Staff Member Award. Vessalico was chosen based on his six years of experience in the district, his passion for seeing students succeed and his accomplishments with the school’s Robotics Team.

“Each of these individuals has served the district with unwavering dedication,” Hunderfund said of the honorees.
