Korean dignitaries visit Davison Avenue school

Posted

Earlier this month, Malverne’s Davison Avenue Intermediary School hosted a group of special guests from Korea and demonstrated the use of SMART Board and other tools for web-based learning.

Three representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea, 12 Korean librarians and a librarian from the Korean Cultural Service in New York planned a special visit to the school to increase their cultural awareness about schools and public libraries in America.

The presentation was hosted by the school’s Library Media Specialist Oh K. Joo, who is originally from Korea. Mrs. Joo invited some of her students to take part in a multimedia lesson about food chains to demonstrate to her guests how she uses web-based learning tools, such as SMART Boards, to create interactive lessons that enhance student learning.

After the presentation, Ms. Joo took her guests on a tour of the school, which ended with a luncheon hosted, of course, in the school library.
