Lakeview Zone Leader H. Scottie Coads, left, and the Lakeview Democratic Club hosted a Women’s History Month program recognizing Fannie Lou Hamer, an American voting and civil rights activist (1917-1977) at Harold Walker Park in Lakeview last week. The program honored "Women of Distinction," among them, from right, North Hempstead Town Councilwoman Viviana Russell, Hempstead Town Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby, Lakeview realtor Idella Harris, Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy and Huntington Town Councilwoman Glenda Jackson.
