Local man arrested for out-of-state burglary
Three Long Island men, one of whom is West Hempstead resident James W. Connor, were arrested last week in connection with a string of business burglaries in upstate New York.

According to the PostStar.com, Connor, 28 was involved in the burglaries of Greenwich House of Pizza, Radio Shack, Yankee Dollar and McDonalds, along with an attempted burglary of Warren Tire Store.

State police spotted the Cadillac Escalade sport-utility vehicle the men were driving on April 22 near exit 16 of the Adirondack Northway and arrested all three men after a search of the car revealed a large amount of cash, along with a wide array of tools such as power saws and large pry bars.

Police also noted that the Escalade had been modified with an electronic cover device that could obstruct view of the license plates, which had been partially activated at the time police had stopped the vehicle.

The PostStar reported that all three men were charged with third-degree burglary, a felony charge, in accordance with the McDonalds robbery, but police were able to link them to the other robberies based on evidence.

All three men were taken to Washington County Jail to await court decisions. While no bail had been set for the other two men due to prior felony offenses, bail for Connor had been set at $250,000 cash or a $500,000 bail bond.
