In honor of Board Recognition Month, students from each school in the Malverne district thanked the Board of Education at the Oct. 8 meeting.

First-graders from Maurice W. Downing Primary School sang an alphabet song on what the Board means to them, while Davison Avenue Intermediate School’s Special Forces delivered artwork and sang a brief song of thanks to the tune of “This Little Light of Mine.”

Set to the theme of “The Olympic Dream,” students at Howard T. Herber Middle School read a poem to the Board and distributed gold medals of gratitude to each member.

Malverne High School Senior Jordan Tyson closed the recognition portion of the evening with a special rendition of West Side Story’s “I Have Love.” In addition, T-shirts were distributed to the Board members in honor of a donation made in their names to support the fight against breast cancer.
