Last June, seventh-grade science technology engineering and mathematics students at Howard T. Herber Middle School completed a project on the past, present and future of flight.
For their work, three students were chosen to be honored by the Zonta International Club of Long Island during their Amelia Earhart celebration on Jan. 16 at the Inn at New Hyde Park.
Kim Domage, Elizabeth Garcia Gamez and Rosemery Landaverde were chosen to present their individual works. Elizabeth explained what the project entailed, Rosemery read her essay on the subject and Kim presented several types of paper airplanes that can be easily constructed and had the longest and furthest flight.
Zonta International is a global organization of executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy.
