Malverne students talk turkey international style

Posted

Dressed as pilgrims, Native Americans and turkeys, students at the Maurice W. Downing Primary School in Malverne sat down together to enjoy an International Thanksgiving feast that featured family favorites from around the world, which were lovingly prepared and served by parents.

This annual Thanksgiving tradition began many years ago as a more conventional celebration with turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes. Over the years, it evolved into the current International Feast, to give students an opportunity to build cultural understanding and pride by allowing them to share their unique family Thanksgiving traditions with one another.
