Malverne teen shines in 'The Nutcracker' at Sacred Heart

Malverne has many talented students, but, on Nov. 21, one stood out as possibly the finest: Kristen Grace Smith.

The teen gave a flawless and extraordinarily beautiful performance as the Sugar Plum Fairy in Sacred Heart Academy’s annual production of “The Nutcracker.” She commanded cheers and a standing ovation.        

Kristen is a long time dancer at Sara DeGennaro’s Tap to Pointe Dance Center in Malverne and studied and performed with the Joffery Ballet School last summer.

This year’s production included many other Malverne residents: Christina Aliprandini, Ali Bianco, Emily Boccio Elisa Carulli, Nicole Cason, Natalie Escobar, Caroline Gioino, Caitlin Gotimer, Mary and Katie Hughes, Phil Incontro, Jasmine Ma, Baylee Nuzzo, Alessia Pecorella, Dylan Phelan, Amanda, Lauren and Sophia Sommers, Meghan Taylor, Emma Wischerth and Jessica Woll.

Crew and costumes included Emily Forsyth and Krista and Laura Intranuovo, who were under the direction of Debora Cox, who wows audiences with her exquisite costumes every year.

The school will put on its 23rd production next year, so mark your calendar for the weekend before thanksgiving and treat your family to the Land of Sweets with an awesome show to usher in the Christmas season.
