Homicide Arrest
    Police arrested a 20-year-old West Hempstead man last week in connection with the shooting death of a Queens man in June at a house party in Uniondale.
    Raymond Wade, of Elmwood Ave., was charged with second-degree murder in the June 13 death of 27-year-old Jason Crafton, of St. Albans.
    According to police, officers had responded to ShotSpotter reports of fired shots around 1 a.m. that Sunday morning at Southern Parkway, where a party was being held. Upon arrival, they found three victims with gunshot wounds: Crafton and two others whose injuries were not life-threatening.
    Cops had determined that the other two victims had been shot at two separate locations, and were still investigating.

    Wade was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Nov. 4 and remanded. He was due back in court on Monday.
   
Kidnapping Arrest
    Police arrested a young Lakeview man last week on kidnapping charges after he allegedly held a woman captive in his home.
    According to police, 21-year-old Slater Chaia met his victim, also 21, through a friend and drove her to his Langdon Boulevard apartment around 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 3. They were watching television in the bedroom when he produced a silver revolver handgun and demanded sex while threatening the victim, police said.
    The victim attempted to leave, but Chaia allegedly locked the bedroom door. Police said he eventually released her after numerous refusals to have sex. Officers arrested Chaia at his home around 12:35 a.m. on Nov. 5.
    He was arraigned later that day at First District Court in Hempstead, and held on $250,000 bond or $125,000 cash. Chaia was due back in court on Nov. 9.

Fatal Vehicular Accident
    A Hempstead man was killed last week while riding his bicycle in West Hempstead during the early-morning hours of Nov. 6.
    According to detectives, a U.S. Postal truck traveling in the left southbound lane on Peninsula Boulevard struck 50-year-old Visitacion Gutierrez-Ramirez, who was riding his bicycle in the roadway, around 5:05 a.m. Gutierrez-Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene.
    The vehicle underwent and passed all safety inspections at the scene, according to police. Detectives were reportedly investigating the bicyclist’s destination. No tickets or criminal charges were expected to be filed in the case.
