Merrick’s Robbie Rosen, a junior at Calhoun High School, made his second appearance on the hit television show "American Idol" on Thursday night, this time in Hollywood.

Rosen, 16, rose to instant national fame when he initially appeared on the show on Jan. 20 while auditioning in New Jersey.

That time, he sang the Beatles’ classic “Yesterday,” which earned him a golden ticket to Hollywood. This time, in round one of the "American Idol" competition, he sang another classic, performing James Moody’s 1949 hit “Moody’s Mood for Love.”

His performance elicited a “wow” from judge Stephen Tyler, and Rosen was later told by judge Randy Jackson that he had made it through to round two.
