New ambulance for Malverne

Posted

The Malverne Volunteer Ambulance Corps unveiled its first new ambulance in over 17 years at a dedication ceremony last Saturday, honoring Malverne volunteer firefighter Charles Bruce, who was killed on Nov. 17 while hunting upstate with other members of the department.

President Joe Karam, a volunteer with the Ambulance Corps and the fire department, paid homage to his fallen brother at the ceremony and held a moment of silence in his honor.

The new $190,000 ambulance is equipped with airbags in the patient compartment, two temperature-controlled cabinets for all medications, brighter LED lighting and reflective paint, and a solar panel on the roof.
