North High seniors look back, look ahead

About 200 seniors will put on their caps and gowns June 22 to collect their diplomas from Valley Stream North High School, but they will also be taking fond memories and valued experiences as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.

Here’s what some graduating seniors said about their time at North and what the next few years has in store for them:

TOLUWANI DAWODU

College: Princeton
Plans to study: Biology or anthropology
Elementary school: Clear Stream Avenue
Best high school memory: In Class Acts we do dance and I like how people who I normally wouldn’t talk to, we all come together.
Activities: Kickline, A Cappella, Women’s Choir, Student Council, honor societies
What will you miss most about North?: My teachers and the friends that I’ve made here.
Plans for summer: Traveling

JASLYN FAN

College: St. Johns University
Plans to study: Computer science
Elementary school: James A. Dever
Best high school memory: A collection of all the little moments like the laughs and the jokes we’ve made.
Activities: Track, Mathletes, It’s Academic
What will you miss most about North?: I’ll miss my friends and all of the teachers here.
Plans for summer: Find work and prepare for the next chapter in my life.

KEVIN HURLEY


College: Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Plans to study: Civil engineering
Elementary school: Howell Road
Best high school memory: All my friends and our experiences.
Activities: Tennis, Physics Club, Mathletes, Engineering Club
What will you miss most about North?: The close-knit community here and my friends.
Plans or summer: Relax before I leave for college.

ANDREW JACOBS

College: Duke
Plans to study: Public policy and theatre
Elementary school: James A. Dever
Best high school memory: Being in the Drama Club, being in the productions. I’ve met some of my best friends in that club.
Activities: Drama Club, A Cappella, Student Council, Tennis, honor societies
What will you miss most about North?: Being able to do so many clubs, even though I lost a lot of sleep. In college you have to pick and choose but in high school I could do everything and explore all my interests.
Plans for summer: I’m a camp counselor at West Hampton Beach Performing Arts Center.
