Boy Scout Nick Santiago organized a trash and teasure sale at the Malverne Historical House to raise funds for his Eagle Scout project — building a memorial for the late Deputy Mayor James Callahan III.

For his Eagle Scout service project, Troop 336 Boy Scout Nick Santiago, of Malverne, will build a memorial for late Malverne Deputy Mayor James Callahan III, who died at age 42 in May, six weeks after suffering a stroke. To raise funds for the supplies needed to construct the memorial garden around the gazebo at Reese Park, Santiago and his fellow Scouts held a trash and treasure sale at the Malverne Historical House on Sept. 17.
