In a community-led effort to help protect front line medical workers, State Sen. Kevin Thomas, who serves Malverne and West Hempstead, partnered with the Federation of American Indian Relief and the Muslim Community of New York to donate 500 N95 masks to Nassau University Medical Center.

Thomas and FAIR chairman Imran Pasha delivered the masks to NUMC President and CEO Dr. Anthony Boutin on April 14.

“We are proud to donate personal protective equipment for these front-line workers, who are putting their lives at risk for us," said Pasha, whose organization aims to serve the poor and needy, with a special focus on India.

“It's incredibly inspiring to see our community come together to support one another in times of need," Thomas said in a news release. “I want to thank Federation of American Indian Relief and the Muslim Community of New York for their amazing efforts in securing these masks, and thank all of our health care workers who are out there fighting a difficult battle for us. We are here to support you in every way that we can.”
