Temples come together for Yom Hoshoah commemoration

Six local synagogues will be sponsoring a Yom Hashoah commemoration on April 18.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. at the Valley Stream Jewish Center, 322 N. Corona Ave. Other synagogues hosting the event include Congregation Beth Israel of West Hempstead, the Elmont Jewish Center, Franklin Square Jewish Center, Jewish Community Center of West Hempstead and Malverne Jewish Center.

The featured speaker will be Karen Franklin, the guest curator of the "My Brother's Keeper" exhibit at the Museum of Jewish Heritage. The topic will be the inaction of the United States concerning the rescue of the victims of the Shoah. There will be a candle lighting, songs, psalms memorial prayer and "The Legacy." Collation will follow.
