On August 16, six young residents of Malverne, ages 4-8 yrs held a lemonade - bake sale on the corner of Cornwell Avenue and Scarcliffe Drive.

`Under the direction of Michele Piciullo, the children  set up their stands with much care and encouraged passersby to try their fresh lemonade and homemade baked goods.

The children were enthusiastic and continued the sale for 4 hours! Their parents sat back and supervised when it was needed. The Malverne community was very gracious to them all.

After the sale, the parents spoke with the children about donating some of their profits to the less fortunate. They all agreed and a donation of $25 to the Special Olympics program. The participants were: Jaimes and Tristan Piciullo, Kate and Jenna Lewis, Madison Mahabir and Liam Corbett

The children are already planning their next big sale for fall. They decided on hot and cold apple cider, some fall inspired bake goods and, of course, candy apples.

The children will again present a donation to the Special Olympics of NY
