Historical association looks at Bellmore –– then and now

The July 13 meeting of the Bellmore Historical Association featured a discussion on “Bellmore: Then and Now,” for which the group exhibited items from and displayed photos of Bellmore landmarks from as far back as the 1800s and discussed the contrast between the hamlet’s past and present.

As many as 30 Bellmore residents attended the session.

The meeting was an open forum, allowing residents who had lived in Bellmore for decades to contribute to the conversation and add to the growing pool of historical data about the community.

The association is working to piece together Bellmore’s history and keep it alive, said Martha DiVittorio, the group’s president. “It’s our responsibility to not let our town’s history be forgotten,” she said.
