Legislators, D.A. want DWI law upgraded

State Sen. Charles Fuschillo Jr., center, displayed a transdermal alcohol-monitoring device at a recent news conference, which convicted drunk drivers would be required to wear under legislation he sponsored if they do not install ignition interlocks in their cars as required by Leandra’s Law.

• Creating felony charges for convicted DWI offenders who drive drunk again while holding conditional licenses.

The Senate passed the legislation in 2012, but the Assembly did not act on it.
