Summer Sounds

Best of Broadway
Sounds of the Great White Way return to Eisenhower Park with Neil Berg’s “100 Years of Broadway.” The lively musical revue, hosted by Neil Berg, on piano, shares those dynamic showstopping tunes performed by a cast of Broadway actors and actresses. These energetic talents light up the stage with songs from the hit shows in which they starred. Berg presents creatively revived arrangements of Broadway classics as well as thrilling numbers from some of the newest hits, along with his fascinating commentary and historical notes in between songs.

Stepping Back in Time

Old Time Festival
Celebrate the waning days of summertime the old fashioned way in the spirit of the mid 19th century at Old Bethpage Village. Music fills air in the historic setting, with the village’s brass band, a fiddler, fiddle and dulcimer duo making their way throughout the grounds to share some tunes from 150 years ago. Picnic to sounds of fiddle music, the Old Bethpage Village Military Band Sextet, and see dancers performing the steps of the day. Visitors can even join in and learn some of the dances. Craftspeople are on hand with various demonstrations, along with activities for the kids, of course.
Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 27-28, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. $10, $7 children and seniors. Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage. (516) 572-8400.

Art Adventures

NCMA’s Family Day
Enjoy a late summer day at Nassau County Museum of Art, indoors and out. Take the kids on a docent-led walk-through of the current exhibition, “A Feast for the Eyes,” which explores how food inspires artists. Also, spend some time in NCMA’s sculpture park, which features over 50 pieces, of all sizes. For more outdoor fun, stroll along a nature trail among the museum’s 145 acres, ideal for family hikes.
Sunday, Aug. 28, 1 p.m. Free with museum admission. $10, $8 seniors 62 and older, $4 children 12 and older. One Museum Dr. (off Northern Blvd.), Roslyn Harbor. (516) 484-9337 or www.nassaumuseum.com.
