All five Bellmore-Merrick school districts –– including Bellmore-Merrick, Bellmore, Merrick, North Bellmore and North Merrick –– have announced that they will delay school by two hours on Thursday, Feb. 13, owing to a winter storm that battered parts of the South and rolled across Long Island on Thursday morning.

At press time, the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District was instructing high school students to report to their Period 3 classes at 9:30 a.m. and middle school students to report to their Period 3 classes at 9:56 a.m.

Classes are set to begin at 10:40 a.m. in the Merrick School District, at 10:30 a.m. in North Merrick and at 10:30 a.m. in the North Bellmore School District. North Bellmore requested that parents not drop their children off at school before 10:17 a.m. The Bellmore District stated only that there would be a two-hour delay.

The North Merrick School District announced that it would postpone kindergarten registration to a later date, which is to be announced.
