Bellmore man charged in violent Merrick robbery

George Dejesus, 53, of Bellmore, was arrested and released on $15,000 bail for allegedly punching a newspaper delivery man in the throat and robbing him at the Merrick Mall in downtown Merrick at 5:10 a.m. on June 29, police said.

The victim reportedly refused medical attention.

Dejesus posted bail on July 2 and is due back in court on Aug. 20.
