Birch, Chatterton celebrate foreign languages

Posted

Students at Birch and Chatterton elementary schools in Merrick recently took part in a poster contest in honor of National Foreign Languages Week from March 5 to 11, sponsored by the Association of Foreign Language Teachers. The theme of this year’s contest was “You’re connected…Now communicate!” The Merrick School District offers FLES (Foreign Language in the Elementary Schools) in grades three to six. Students receive once-a-week instruction in conversational Spanish, and participated in the contest on a voluntary basis. The honorees are found on this page.
