Civic assoc. to meet Tuesday night in Merrick

The South Merrick Community Civic Association will hold its next meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28 at the Merrick Road Park golf course clubhouse, at 2550 Clubhouse Road. Joe Baker, SMCCA’s president and a co-chairman of the Bellmore-Merrick New York Rising Community Reconstruction Program Planning Committee, will give an update on the Committee’s progress in developing a plan to spend about $12 million on local Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts and mitigation for future storms.

SMCCA also invited an officer or officers from the Problem-Oriented Policing unit of the Nassau County Police Department’s Seventh Precinct to give an update on community policing matters, Baker said. Details about the Police Department’s “Citizens Police Academy” will be available at the meeting.
