Empire Company to host fire drill, parade

Empire Hose Company No. 3 Inc. of the Merrick Fire Department will host the Nassau County Firemen’s Parade & Drill, along with a carnival from Newton Shows, in July.

The carnival will take place from Wednesday, July 7, through Saturday, July 10. Times are Wednesday through Friday, 6 to 11 p.m.; Saturday, 4 to 11 p.m.

There will also be an old-fashioned firemen’s drill on Friday, July 9, beginning at 6 p.m The motorized drill will take place on Saturday, July 10, beginning at 8 a.m., with a parade to follow at 6 p.m. All events will take place at the Four Towns Firemen’s Training Center at the corner of Merrick and Clubhouse roads in Merrick.

The parade will take the following route: Start at Babylon Turnpike and Sunrise Highway and head south on Babylon Babylon Turnpike to Merrick Road and then west on Merrick Road to Fireman's Field.
