Former Merokean Hoereth dies at 102

Anna Alberta Hoereth died on Sept. 21, in Raleigh, NC, with her family by her side.

Hoereth was born on July 31, 1915, in Brooklyn, to Thomas and Christina Beyer. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A truly remarkable woman with a beautiful smile, great sense of humor, selfless nature and zest for life, she will be missed greatly by her family, friends and loved ones.

Hoereth was a crossing guard for 29 years in Merrick, and retired in 1984. She lived in Merrick until 2002, when she moved to Fuquay Varina, NC.

She is survived by her daughter Judy, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband William, daughter Dolores, son William, her parents and siblings.
