Kennedy jams the gym for basketball

Posted

Kennedy High School recently held a “Jam the Gym” night to celebrate girls’ basketball.

The purpose of the event is to promote the athletic department and increase school spirit. The Kennedy girls’ team took on Great Neck South, and at halftime the school honored Rick Hamilton, a former health teacher and girls’ basketball coach at Kennedy who died recently.

The school honored Hamilton by presenting a jersey to his wife, Abbey, who was on hand to accept the honor on her late husband’s behalf. Following the ceremony, the Kennedy girls’ basketball team capped the night by defeating Great Neck South, 49-47. Seniors Carly Thea and Morgan Kitton led the way with 15 point each.
