Levy-Lakeside resumes classes on Tuesday

Merrick School District officials are reporting that power and heat have been restored at Levy-Lakeside Elementary School in Merrick and that classes would resume there on Tuesday. The school had been closed on Monday owing to a power outage after the weekend's big storm.

The following was the e-mail to parents from the district:

"Good morning. This is Lisa Ruiz, Assistant Superintendent in the Merrick School District. We are pleased to inform you that power and heat have been restored at Lakeside and school will be open as usual. Please remember to send lunch with your child as our vendors will not be able to provide lunch. Thank you for your understanding in this matter."
